We were engaged to construct a double storey extension to a traditional Victorian terraced property in Ardleigh. This provided additional living space on the ground floor with bedrooms above. We also built a small closet wing extension to house the new ground floor WC and cloakroom. Additionally all of the ground floor was refurbished to provide modern and updated accommodation for the owner.
The ground floor of the building was designed to provide a more contemporary and modern feel with aluminium bifold doors being installed to provide plenty of natural light. Part of the internal walls were left as facing brickwork to provide a contrast to the adjoining plastered walls. Upstairs the design was more traditional with the sash windows and surrounds being replicated to match the original building.
We had to source recycled slates and ridge tiles for the roof coverings to ensure that the new extensions matched the original building fabric as closely as possible.
Finally to bring the building totally up to date we also renewed and upgraded all of the plumbing and electrics. This will allow the owners to enjoy the property knowing that it will be hassle free for years to come.
